I stand in the cool summer's rain,
As it thunders down upon me,
As it slows and gently stops-
I close my eyes and breathe
The fresh scent of the cleansed earth
is like a dream.
The street feels warm on my feet-
But the air is cool in its essence.
I sip my wine slowly,
feeling it flow all through me.
and lie down to feel the soft embrace,
of another, I turn and return that embrace.
We dance slowly still,
to sounds of beauty in the evening haze,
Swaying closely to our tune,
in one keeping time,
Softly singing, I'll still be there.
We are fleeting,
as fast as the hummingbird flies.
In later times passing,
in splendid seclusion I write.
Of love, of beauty,
of joy on the trail before us.
I lie awake until your sun sets
deep into my darkest night,
Until those stars begin to peer out,
Bringing me hope of a distant tomorrow.
